Update congestion situation
woensdag 6 december 2017
To our customers,
Reference is made to earlier correspondence with regards to the congestion situation of handling
container barges in the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
The situation is going on for a longer period and still has a structural character. With ups and downs
we actually experience delays on an average of between 24 up to 72 hours at the large deepsea
terminals. In the meantime the port authorities of both seaports and country politics acknowledge
the situation and are actively involved in a search for possible portwide solutions and improvements.
In our operational control tower we monitor the daily circumstances and respond on the congestion
situation with inhouse hub-and-spoke and bundeling systems in our European network. These self-
created solutions reduce the port stay of our fleet but have a major influence on our cost structure.
We are therefore forced to continue the congestion surcharge on our liner services. In connection
with this we kindly ask your understanding for the fact that we are not liable for any costs such as
demurrage, detention or extra handling and transfer costs resulting from the delays.
We will keep you informed about the situation and rely on your understanding.
Trusting the above to suffice, we remain.
With kinds regards,
Management Danser Group
